Bring Professional Eyecare to Your Home

Dr. Karyn Seffens is the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Visiting Eyecare LLC. She has been an optometrist for 19+ years working for big brand eye clinics. During 8 of those years, she was employed by the federal government to provide advanced eyecare for retired veterans and war heroes. After many years of seeing how the eyecare industry was transitioning toward sales rather than patient care, she formed a company to bring back patient-focused care and convenience of a lost tradition…doctors making house calls. With this concept, Visiting Eyecare LLC strives to focus on the patient’s eyecare needs in the comfort and convenience of their surroundings; especially those who are most susceptible to ocular disease, our seniors.

Visiting Eyecare LLC realizes that there are many major obstacles for senior citizens in retirement communities to access quality eyecare including lack of transportation and escorts to clinics. By bringing the clinic to the facilities, transportation costs and staffing loss for the facility to escort patients are avoided. Due to these difficulties, most community residents can go years without an eye exam resulting in severe to complete vision loss that could have been, in many cases, prevented if treated early.

Based on this knowledge and Dr. Seffens’ desire to return to servicing the elderly community, we developed a unique mobile service. Unlike other mobile optometry services that operate their practice out of a modified vehicle, our services bring advanced portable equipment to the patient within the facility. This eliminates factors such as mobility limitations and weather concerns by providing care within their home environment which makes life easier for both the patient and the facility.
